To Chi or Not to Chi

Hello All! I have a survey type question for those that can help or have an opinion. I recently had a lot of hair chopped off and I love my new hairstyle but a friend suggested that I invest in a Chi, a straightening iron. She said that it would work great with my hair and it would give me a lot of options of different things to do. So the thing is, they are ~ $100 or more. So, what do you think? Worth the investment or should I just say NO.

By the way, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to aunt Jane - we love you!!!

Wow! Chis are nice, but YES, expensive. I suggest that if you DO decide to get one, wait until you get a good Ulta coupon and go get one with that. They work wonders on your hair, but essentially, they ONLY STRAIGHTEN hair. You could do the same with a roller brush and dryer. It'll just take a bit more time and patience. Hope this helps!

Ya know, I heard amazing things about the chi. Both hairstylists I've gone to have said it really is the best....I still haven't gone there because of the price...waiting for a sale!

Something about less damage, and faster results. Esp. good for thicker hair.

I know your hair - cause it is very similar to mine - LOL! I have had my hair straigtened with a Chi and hair drying with brush. My stylist could really not tell a difference when she used the Chi. It is supposed to be super fabulous - but - if you are into super quick hair styles - I don't recommend. I bought a really nice straigener - not Chi - if I can find it - you can have it. I just think it takes way to long. I would recommend that you use anti frizz shampoo/conditioner and redkin has an awesome product that you should try - Redkin Chi. Just my two/okay maybe three cents.

This is a question I have been wondering about, too. Blaire has been swearing by Chi's for years and I have friends who can't live without them. I never invested in one because for me, I always figured hey I have naturally straight hair so what would be the point? Then the last time I got my hair cut the stylist used a Chi and my hair was so smooth and she even used it to flip the ends under, I couldn't believe it. So after that, I kind of wanted one but not enough to spring for the cost OR ask for it for a gift for my birthday. I have it on good authority from Blaire that imitation Chis are not the same though. You either splurge (at Ulta or wherever) or live without.

check ebay... i've seen new ones there for $100. the thing about the chi brand is if you keep the box and paperwork you can go to any beauty supply store that sells them and get a new one if yours breaks. LIFETIME guarantee that they stand by! that makes the investment a little easier to swallow.
