My Back to the Future Birthday

Amazon Prime Home Screen

Last Wednesday, I turned 38!  David and the kids had a small party for me at home and it was so much fun (the kids' homemade decorations were wonderful).

 A birthday banner

These banners were my favorite!

The night before, David and I watched Back to the Future after the kids went to sleep.  Then, we watched the 2nd one on my birthday night.  It was really fun since they went into the future to October 21, 2015.  Then the next night we finished up the trilogy by watching Back to the Future 3 (which I don't think I have ever seen).  I enjoyed the movies quite a bit.  It is amazing to me how much the three movies really tied together.  I do wish they would have skipped out on the bad language, it really wasn't necessary.

David and I also went on a double date on Friday with some good friends and saw For King and Country in concert.  They were great!

Daddy Daughter Date Night at Chick-fil-A

 Goodies

A few weeks ago David took all four girls on a date.  It was actually on E's birthday!  They participated in the Daddy Daughter Date Night at Chick-fil-A.

 Crafts Tissue Flower

They had a fun dinner along with cake, listened to a harpist, made craft flowers and then took a ride in a limo.  The girls are still talking about the limo ride.  I love that Chick-fil-A really put a lot of thought into this event and made it an awesome opportunity for David to really connect with the girls.  The girls each came home with a special bag of treats including a plush cow and their flowers.  We highly recommend this event.

Team Storytelling Activity

My favorite was reading the story that David and the older girls created on their date.  They picked the topic of their story to be a jungle adventure.  Then they took turns writing lines of the story but they couldn't look at the other persons lines.  It made for a fun story.  I love that they were thinking of some of the same things without knowing it.

Their Story (with a few spelling corrections):

I am going on an adventure! Suddenly 4 monkeys climbed down from the treetops and threw bananas and coconuts at the mean tiger while swinging on the long vines.  Then he swung on the vines hanging from the trees.  Everyone was so tired from all of this that they looked for a place to take a nap.  Then I saw a tiger!  Will it eat me?  But the tiger came back and looked very hungry!  Then she climbed a mountain almost 1,000 ft high.  Two baby crocodiles came out of the rushing river and everyone was too scared to swim.  Then I see a frog, "ribbit".  Finally there was a safe place to spend the night.  We couldn't wait for another adventure tomorrow!

 Chick-fil-A Mom goodies!

In other news, I am proud to say that I was selected to be on the Chick-fil-A Mom panel for the next year.  I love hearing about the latest news and giving opinions to a company that really cares.  Cheers to a great partnership CFA!

Back from New York

Hello Everyone!  You might not have known but I had a little getaway.  I left the kiddos and went to New York with my sister and aunt.  We had a great time and I cannot believe how much we were able to do and see in such a short amount of time.  David was awesome with the kids.  Enjoy the photos and look forward to more frequent posts!

Unicorn Party - Happy 4th Birthday E

 Miss E

Happy 4th Birthday to my sweet E!  You are so fun and you bring so much joy and energy to our family.  I love that you picked unicorns as your party theme this year.  Unicorns are magical like you!

 E's Unicorn Cake

Tilted view so you can see the horn better.

Fun Unicorn Pop Favors

I really wish I had more pictures of the party but I spent more time playing and hanging out with people at the park than taking photos. Thanks so much to everyone who could come!  And special thanks to Uncle Allen who came all the way from Wisconsin to help us with our bathroom remodel project.  It is still a work in progress but we are a lot further along.

Diary of a Jackwagon Book Review & Giveaway

 My new book!

Have you heard of Tim Hawkins?  I really hope you have because he is absolutely hilarious.  I think David and I have watched just about all of his material on YouTube.  Just in case you aren't familiar, Tim Hawkins is an amazing, Christian comedian that happens to have a few epic songs like Chick-fil-A.

We finally were able to see Tim Hawkins live in March earlier this year.

I just finished reading Diary of a Jackwagon by none other than Tim Hawkins himself.  This is his first book.  It is full of laughter and life.  This book contains a lot of Tim's comedy material, but I want you to know that it never gets old.  He has material on marriage, parenting, homeschooling, the Christian life and so much more.  It was nice to get to know more about Tim and his life by reading his book.  I highly recommend Diary of a Jackwagon as it is sure to keep you from sweating the small stuff in life and it's so funny!

Ready for a Giveaway?  One of you will win your very own copy of Diary of a Jackwagon thanks to Family Christian.  Just enter below and good luck!
