Timberdoodle Dr. Bonyfide Presents Bones Set of 4 Review

I have a fun book set to share with you, Dr. Bonyfide Presents Bones Book Set of 4!  Dr. Bonyfide Presents was developed by a team of educators, health professionals and parents.  This series guides your child through the bone structures of their body using rhymes, games, puzzles, fun facts, quizzes and various hands-on activities to drive the information home.

Book 1 is specific to the bones of the hand, arm, and shoulder.

The back of the first 2 books in this series has a pair of x-ray glasses.

This welcome in the front of the book gives a good feel for how the book is designed.

In Book 1 you are introduced to Dr. Bonyfide, your tour guide throughout the complete series.  Dr. Bonyfide does pick up other friends along the way throughout the series.

Above you can see D comparing her phalanges with the diagram in Book 1.

Here is D making a diagram beginning with her distal phalanges.

Coloring them in

D adding her intermediate phalanges.

Finished diagram with all 14 phalanges!

D using her x-ray glasses.

The glasses are pretty neat.  Above you can get a glimpse of what it's like to use them.

Using Book 1 to practice sign language.

Book 2 is specific to the bones of the foot, leg and pelvis.

In Book 2 you continue your journey with Dr. Bonyfide through the bones of the lower extremities of the body.  This book incorporates a fun circus theme.

Again, it has the x-ray glasses too.

Sneak Peak

 Learning the Grapevine.

Book 3 is specific to the bones of the rib cage and spine.

C reading Book 3

In this book you take an elevator ride through the spine and rib cage.

I love that you take an elevator ride traveling through the rib cage and spine in Book 3.  It is in Book 3 that you begin to see original comic strips that are super fun.

An activity page - Curious Cuneiform Code.  It gives you the key.

 C working on the code.

C solved it easily.  He is really into breaking codes so I think he would have been able to do this pretty easily without the key as well.

Book 4 is specific to the bones of the head, face and neck.

In the last and final book in this series, you will take a trip to Skull Island as you become familiar with the bones of the head, face and neck.  Dr. Bonyfide makes more friends and upon completion of this book you will have learned the entire skeletal system!  Like Book 3 there are lots of original comic strips.

After using these books I can see why they have won so many awards including Nautilus Book Awards (Silver Winner), Tillywig (Brain Child Award), Parents' Choice Awards (Approved), National Parents Products Awards (Winner),  and the Academics Choice Awards (Smart Book Award).  I hope that through my descriptions and pictures that you can get a real feel for how these books are set up.  They are a great combination of facts and fun and they definitely encourage learning.  And if you know me, I'm all about learning and fun!  I love that the books have different themes and that they are easy to use.  I really liked that I could work with the kids and that they could also use them independently when desired (especially the older kids and the last books as they have more comics included).  These are a great tool for homeschooling or for the science lover in your home.

Check out more about these books including the option to purchase at the Timberdoodle website or direct link here.  You can purchase these books individually, as a set or within Timberdoodle's Curriculum Kits (Book 1 is available in their 3rd grade kit, Book 2 is available in their 4th grade kit, Book 3 is available in their 5th grade kit, and Book 4 is available in their 6th grade kit).

Disclosure:  Huge shout out to Timberdoodle for selecting me as a Timberdoodle Blogger.  Timberdoodle sent my family Dr. Bonyfide Presents Bones Book Set of 4 in exchange for our honest review.  All opinions are my own.

B and D's Disney Themed Birthday Party

We celebrated D's 8th and B's 12th Birthdays last weekend with a general Disney themed party.  Our kids have been so excited to talk all about Disney characters ever since we returned from our epic September trip which included a visit to Disneyland so the girls were in agreement that they wanted a Disney party!  I still need to blog about that trip because it was outrageously fun!  Enjoy the party photos and Happy Birthday girls - we love our December babies!

D's strawberry flavored Dory cake

D with her cake - 8 is great!

B's delicious chocolate Minnie and Mickey cake that she helped decorate.

My parents bought out a flower store so there were so many amazing fresh flowers throughout the party!

I purchased a bag of party props and they were so much fun to take pictures with.

D loved the ruby red lips.

And my favorite group shot of the party.  You should zoom in on this one - it's awesome!

Snow in Texas

Our Snowy Roof

It snowed today and my kids were more than thrilled, especially B.  She loves her birthday eve present.  It's pretty funny because 12 years ago David and I were headed to the hospital in the middle of an ice storm and then it snowed after she was born - memories.

Baby G right when it began to snow, you can see a few flurries in his hair.

C and G with Stevie dog in the background

Our snowy bushes

B was out there the most, of course!

 A enjoying hot chocolate weather!

It doesn't snow much in Texas so when it does it always makes for a fun day.  Wherever you are stay safe!

Let The Little Children Come Gospel Tracts

Have you heard of Let The Little Children Come?  I had never heard of them before this campaign but I am so glad that I know about them now.  Let The Little Children Come aims to provide effective gospel tracts and evangelism tools and resources for children.  It is their hope that these tools and resources will help convey the gospel message to children in an engaging way.  The tracts are specially designed to capture and hold the attention of children from the core message of salvation through Jesus Christ.  These tracts can be used in Sunday School, VBS, outreach programs, etc.  They are also designed to be easy for children to understand and share with their friends.

We received a sampler pack that contained 10 Gospel Tracts and Evangelism tools.  Our pack included a John 3:16 Animated Tract, a Gospel Button FlipAbout, the Most Amazing House Pop-Up Tract, a Wordless Bracelet Kit, the True Story of Christmas Animated Tract, The Lost Easter Egg Pop-Up Tract, a John 3:16 FlipAbout, a Silicone Salvation Bracelet, a Where's Everybody Going? Animated Tract, and a Wordless Book.

Wordless Bracelet Kit

A had no trouble at all putting this together.  My kids are very familiar with the concept of the gospel in terms of yellow, black, red, white and green so they understood this bracelet right away!

The Silicone Salvation bracelet is the same concept.

As well as the Wordless Book - a book of only colored pages and no words.

A taught us how to use our FlipAbout books.  Once you get the hang of it, they are very easy to use!

D reading The Lost Easter Egg PopUp Tract

 C enjoying the PopUp tracts

My children have really enjoyed the entire contents of this sampler pack but the stars of the pack for them were the animated gospel tracts.  They have never really seen tracts like these and they thought the motion pictures were pretty amazing - they kept saying, "Wow!"

Where's Everybody Going? Animated Tract

D reading through this tract

Each of the animated tracts come with a striped plastic sheet.  You simply place the striped plastic sheet over the cover of the tract and slowly slide it from left to right and the image will begin to move.  You continue using the plastic sheet throughout the book on the other animations provided.  As you read through the tracts you have motion pictures to go with them.  My kids loved them and so will every other kid on the planet!  These are awesome.  We cannot wait to share our goodies the next time our small group meets.  We want to see what all the other kids think of these fun tools.  My kids are excited to share the content with their friends and that is a huge win!

You can purchase your own sampler packs here.
