English 1 Language Skills from Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum Review

Disclosure:  I received this complimentary product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW.

Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum

We were blessed to receive English 1 Language Skills (9th grade) from Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum.  This easy-to-use curriculum requires minimal parent or teacher oversight.  I personally like that all of their courses are available in both print and digital downloads and I love that students can work through this course at their own pace.  This course is designed to give students a strong understanding of grammar, writing and composition.

Above you can see our full course kit!

Inside my Teacher's Resource Kit

Our kit includes a Teacher's Resource Kit as well as 5 chapter books and 5 companion activity books.  Most course chapters include 15 lessons which are divided into 3 sections.  Each lessons begins with a graphic that is designed to help engage both hemispheres of the brain as well as defined vocabulary words.  Lessons feature a character vignette and ends with a life principle.  Students are encouraged to answer activity questions in chronological order as they read through the text.  A quiz is taken at the end of each section or 5 lessons.  So each chapter has 3 section quizzes as well as a chapter test.  I also want to mention that this course is worth one high school credit.

Above you can see part of the text for Chapter 1 and the first activity page as well.

I really appreciate the Teacher's Resource Kit!  It includes all the answers to activity questions, quizzes, and chapter tests.  It also has a plethora of other resources such as a transcript planner, academic goal chart and more.  I love how easy this curriculum is set up.

Happy 15th Birthday C

We celebrated C turning 15 last Sunday!  We went to Applebee's for dinner and had a very nice evening.  It wasn't crowded at all :).  We are planning to have a celebration with his friends this weekend.  It's crazy that before long, he too will be driving.  C is talented, witty, smart, and an amazing role model for his younger brothers.  We love you Clay!

A's Senior Banquet

Our church celebrated the seniors on Wed night with a banquet.  It was so fun!  It was a time to honor them, fellowship, share a wonderful meal, play games and celebrate.  I'm so thankful for our church community and their investment in our family!

We had a reserved table

Our family table

B sat with some friends

Vanilla Cake - A's favorite

And a chocolate one too

The parents of all the seniors wrote letters to them.  Likewise, the seniors wrote letters to their parents.  There was a special time where we were able to read our letters to each other in front of everyone.  It was very powerful and I cherish that experience.

Spring Band Concert {A's Last Concert}

A, B & C had their final band concert for this semester last night.  This concert was extra special because it is A's last concert as she is graduating next month and headed off to college.  They did a fantastic job and all 3 of them came home with an award.  I cannot say enough good things about this program!

Headed to the concert!

A with her band director!

I am so grateful for CYBA and the opportunities it has given my kids.  David and I really want the kids to learn a musical instrument and that can be challenging with homeschooling and this organization has been such a blessing.

Support D and her Gymnastics Team

Hello everyone! Most of you know that D is involved in competitive gymnastics.  The last two seasons have been challenging as D had to miss due to surgeries.  I'm truly amazed at her determination and hard work!  We are excited about this upcoming season and getting to watch her routines again.  D and her gymnastics team are raising money to help off set monthly dues and meet fees!  She has a personal goal to raise $500+ to help support her and her teammates.  Please consider donating, no gift is too small.  Go here to check it out - thanks!

E's Baptism

E made the decision to get baptized last Sunday!  I'm so proud of her.  Our church had a potluck dinner and gathered together to celebrate all of those getting baptized (and there were a lot!).

Congrats E - we are so proud of you and look forward to watching you continue to grow in your faith!  For those of you who didn't know about it (sorry!), there will be a future video I can share with you when it is released 😉.

Farmyard Faith by Whatsoever Stories Review

Disclosure:  I received this complimentary product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW.

Whatsoever Stories

We were blessed to receive Farmyard Faith from Whatsoever Stories to read in our homeschool.  Our paperback book contains 26 chapters (~ 200 pages) and is recommended for ages 10+.

Farmyard Faith is written by Kinsey M. Rockett, a homeschool graduate who began writing when she was a young girl.

I absolutely love that the goal of Whatsoever Stories is to provide families with captivating stories that emphasize biblical truths and help build Godly character. Their theme verse is below:

Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. - Philippians 4:8

As I previously mentioned, our book has 26 chapters and is a nonfiction collection of stories from the Rockett family's experiences over the past decade.  I really like how Kinsey shares how God used circumstances to help her faith.  D and E are both reading through our book and when they complete it, my plan is to read it aloud with the boys so we can discuss the various circumstances.  I love the idea of incorporating this book in our devotional time as it has real life experiences and applications.

A's Senior Pics

I can't believe A is graduating!  She has a few more classes to finish up but the time is near and it has literally flown by.  A good friend of ours likes to say the days are long but the years are short and this is so, so true.  I'm so proud of A and all that she has done and I'm really looking forward to watching her continue to grow as she pursues a degree in Studio Art, go Crusaders!  A friend of ours took A's senior pictures ~ a month ago and I love the way they turned out.  We will have her official graduation party in June 🎓🥳.
