This kits is a fabulous tool for creating a work of art on the pages of your favorite Bible.  You can draw, color, or journal your thoughts, dreams, prayers.  Highlight your favorite verses or the encouragements that speak to your heart.  B and I have had so much fun using this kit.  I have only used it at home but B has used it at home and on the go.

We like using the pouch to hold all the stickers, colored pencils and pen.

I made a page on Thessalonians 5:16-18 on praying without ceasing.  See my progression below.

I used the colored pencils to make a heart.

I chose the pray always sticker.

 Heart with sticker...

I highlighted my work using the pen and wrote the verse around it.

I used stickers to make the words Pray, Pray and Pray.

Then I added my own words between the stickers.

 My finished page

My thoughts:  I really like the diversity of this set!  I haven't used the tab stickers yet but I could see them being really helpful.  I like the sticker options that are included and they are easily incorporated into different Bible pages.  The pencils twist easily.  I found them to be similar to using a crayon only easier to use in pencil form.  I really like the journaling pen.  It's easy to write with and really makes pictures pop when outlined.  The pouch is super cute and easily holds all the pencils and pen for journaling.  I think this is a great set, especially for someone getting started with journaling.

Swim with Dolphins at SeaWorld San Antonio

Kissing Brady

Guess what?  I recently fulfilled a lifelong dream.  I was able to swim with a dolphin, so fun!  I was invited to take part in a Dolphin Interaction at Discovery Point in SeaWorld San Antonio.  After changing into a wetsuit and while accompanied by a trainer, a small group of us waded into the shallows of Dolphin Lagoon (at Discovery Point) and met Brady, a 17 year old bottle nose dolphin who couldn't have been sweeter.  There were several other dolphins there but I spent all my time with Brady.

 Taking a ride with Brady!

We were able to give him kisses, rubdowns, and even go for a short swim.  It was so fun to be so close to such a beautiful animal and learn about him.

Learning some of the commands and having fun with Brady

Oh, and we got a little wet!

SeaWorld San Antonio has several interaction experiences available including the Dolphin Encounter, Beluga Encounter and the Sea Lion Encounter.  Interested in booking an Interaction at SeaWorld San Antonio?  Check out the link below for Blue Friday savings and make sure to come back on Thursday for even more savings.  These hands-on-experiences make great gifts as well.  Make someone happy and give an experience this holiday season.

Our Edible Periodic Table

Periodic Table made up of sugar cookies

I have been recovering well from surgery.  Last week I had my gall bladder removed due to gall stones - no fun at all.  David and I are so blessed that both of our mother's were able to come down for a visit and help out.  They were so helpful!  And of course, the kids have had a blast.  For the last two days David's Mom and the kids have been working on building an edible periodic table.  A, B, and C are all in a Chemistry/Physics class this year and they saw the idea in their Apologia textbook so we decided to go for it.

Ingredients for the sugar cookies

 3 lbs of soft butter

A, B and D were the main bakers.

Which also meant they got dibs on the beaters.

 D was excited.

We baked the cookies as a sheet and scored them into squares.

Cooling...

The recipe made 6 dozen.

 Working on frosting

F frosting cookies

All the kids helped with frosting, while A and B did all the writing.

Adding the symbols to the cookies

 Starting the assembly

A and B working with Mumma on assembling the cookies.

A and B with the finished periodic table.

All of the kids that helped and G looking cute.

Not bad - I think they did a great job.

Baby G is in his "element" with F and D.

If you wanted an easier way to do this, you could use already made graham crackers (which are perfect squares) and a store bought container of icing.  You could essentially achieve the same effect in less time.  Just a thought.  Let me know what you think!

The Fun Was With Us

This post has been a long time coming!  It all started back in May in a little hospital room in San Antonio.  We were just learning of the extensiveness and long term duration of burn care.  I was totally clueless before the girls' accident.  We learned what compression garments were and that A would be in them for at least a year.  David had a great idea to cheer her up.  A could be Rey for Halloween as she has the arm cover ups.  A was all for it and the plan began.  Our whole family would be Star Wars.  And so, I present my Star Wars family to you.

My DIY R2D2 Costume

I actually made Baby G's costume.  You guys know that I love felt.  I simply started with a white baby onesie, blue/gray/black/white felt and went from there.

 Baby G as R2D2

He loves his Hallmark itty bitty.

F was BB8.

I love that the younger boys were the droids.

Miss E was a charming Princess Leia.

She left her wig on all night!

D was the spunky one on the dark side of the force.

Storm Trooper D

C was Luke.  I found this awesome Jedi cloak on Etsy byC3design and it is perfect.  The sleeves and hood are spot on for a Jedi.

And of course he loves his lightsaber.

B was an awesome rebel fighter.  I love the orange color on her.

A closer view.

And the star, A as Rey!  I cannot believe A is already 5'3" and can wear my UGG boots, which were perfect for her costume.

David made her staff and he did such a great job.

 Another view.

I was the Millennium Falcon.

I tried to order earrings off Amazon but the company kept sending me the wrong ones.  And then I found a super awesome hair clip on Etsy but it didn't arrive in time, it was sent late.  My shirt was suppose to glow-in-the-dark but it did not.  And yet, it worked!

And David as Qui-Gon.

I bought the blue and green lightsabers from the Disney Store and they are awesome.  I love the realistic sound effects, lights and how they can be used in a battle together.  Kuddos Disney!

The kids at the festival.  Baby G is asleep in his stroller.

We had a ton of fun.  This was a super fun promise to see fulfilled.  A continues to do well on her burn recovery.  We are still taking it day by day.  We were set back a bit as far as daily care when she broke her left wrist a few weeks ago at youth group.  However, one huge blessing is that the hypertrophic areas under her cast are becoming super flat!  That is a consistent prayer of ours for all her burns.  That's it for now.  May the Force Be With You!
