A baptism and an eagle

My amazing hubby was baptized a few weeks ago by one of his closest friends.  He was baptized as an infant, but recently felt that the Lord was encouraging him to be baptized as an adult.  So, it is something that he has been wanting to do for awhile now (couple of years actually).  I am so proud and honored to be married to such a Godly man and father.  I couldn't be more blessed!

The oldest son of some good friends of ours just became an Eagle Scout.  Personally I do not know a ton about Boy Scouts but I know that this is a big deal and it really is an accomplishment - way to go John!  David was asked to make the cake.  Here is what he did - enjoy!  I do wish I had more in the process photos - maybe next time.

The Eagle topper - made with Rice Krispies

 The base

The finished product.

Nuby Fish Swoosh & Giveaway

*** Giveaway Now Closed ***
Congratulations to Shirley!

Nuby's Fish Swoosh

E, D and I have all been having some bath time fun with the Nuby Fish Swoosh!  Nuby's Fish Swoosh is basically a really simple, yet fun basketball goal made for the bath.  It attaches to your bathtub via suction cups.  I do not know about you but I have not always had the best luck with suction cups - these installed easily and worked.  The Fish Swoosh is light in weight yet durable.  The backboard is comprised of two really cute dolphins that Miss D loves.  And then there are three fish balls (pink, blue and green).  The fish also double as bath squirter toys for extra fun!

Filling up the tub and E getting ready to play.

Slam dunk - easy as pie

Two down and one to go!

The net can be set up to hold all the fish at one time or so that they drop straight through after a goal.  I like that you can choose for more game options.

A close-up of the green fish.  You can see how it doubles as a squirter.

Squirter fun!  The water tickles D.

According to Nuby
18+ months.  Nuby's Fish Swoosh is another fun and interactive bath time toy from Nuby.  Fish Swoosh will help develop and improve your child's motor skills as well as hand eye coordination.  This bath time play set is so much fun.  Your child can squeeze and squirt the fish between dunks in the goal!  Sturdy suction cups keep the goal adhered to the bathtub wall for endless bath time fun.  Fish Swoosh is sure to be a bath time favorite.

Yes, indeed - it sure is!   Fish Swoosh is available for purchase at www.BuyBabyDirect.com.

Once again, thanks Nuby for an awesome product!  Remember you can connect with Nuby on facebook, twitter, and pinterest as well.  Please enter the giveaway below for your chance to win one of these fun bath toys!

My Marathon Kids

A, B and C completed their Marathon Kids running on Saturday and they each got their medal.  They ran 26.2 miles over the course of the last 4-5 months and I am so proud of them!  I think we will be doing this again next year.

B was the first in our family to cross the finish line.  She is in pink in this photo.

Next, came A and C for a pretty close race.

 And Daddy with D

I didn't get smiles because of the sun but I am so proud of these three kiddos!

Teething, Pain and Advil

E's new teeth

E is in the throws of teething!  When she turned a year she only had a few teeth.  She is now 16 months and she has 6.  When the last two broke through her gums she had a mild fever and she really seemed painful.  While there are many blessings to a communicative baby, it is also painful to watch her point to her mouth and say "Owie" - poor baby!  So, what did I use?  Well, I used Infants' Advil.  I will admit that I keep both Infants' Advil and Children's Advil on hand in my medicine cabinet pretty much all the time.  I find that it works great as both a fever reducer and pain reliever.  In E's case, only one dose was needed and we moved on.  Until the next tooth...I am not looking forward to her molars but I am thankful that Infants' Advil will be here as needed.  I also want to say that I am huge believer in the power of prayer and have seen God move in our family in both small and big ways so I do not want to underestimate this aspect in any way!

C face-planted earlier this week and it was pretty bad.  To make a long story short, he was running off the deck and the older girls were kicking a ball.  Somehow the ball hit him, his feet slipped from under him and he launched face first into the beam of our rock pit - um, ouch!  He was a bit of a mess.  Well, he got a dose of Advil - this time Children's Advil.  I really like that it is long lasting (up to 8 hours) and I could dose him without worrying too much (I am still his mother :)) during the night.

This was taken several days after the injury, he is healing well!

So, what do you think?  Do you use Infants' Advil, Children's Advil or any other products for fevers and/or pain?  What is your routine?  Just curious.

I have a few coupons!

Let me know if you want one and I will send it your way (until they are gone that is).  To learn even more about my smiley360 mission click here!

Disclosure: I received a bottle of Infants' Advil to facilitate my review from Smiley360.  The other two bottles of Infants' Advil and Children's Advil in my home were purchased by myself.  All opinions expressed are 100% mine.

Our Mega Bloks Barbie Bonanza

Our Party Box contained all these goodies!

We had an amazing time at our Mega Bloks Barbie Party a few days ago.  This girls were so excited all day - they could hardly contain themselves when friends arrived.  A, B and C and I had fun constructing the Mega Bloks Barbie Build'n Style Luxury Mansion and Pool Party before guests arrived.

Here they are assembled and ready to go.

Here is a view of the Mega Bloks Barbie Luxury Mansion up close.

I love all the detail.  It has 8 rooms - a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, living room, patio, balcony, grand entrance and kitty room up above.  The rooms are movable so the girls have fun with that.  I appreciate the attention to detail within the pieces and after the  stickers are applied.

Here is a view of the Mega Bloks Barbie Build'n Style Pool Party up close.  The girls really like the slide and diving board.

What do you think of my happy watermelon bowl?

Our food spread consisted of brownie/iced cupcakes, dipped Chex mix, dipped strawberries, oranges, poolside happy watermelon bowl, blue Jello complete with juicy sharks and Swedish fish and gingerbread pita chips!

The girls had a ton of fun playing with all the Mega Bloks Barbie toys.

 Fun with friends

A and Mare Bear having a blast.  A is reassembling the pool and M is helping.

 Fun at the pool.

All of our friends left with a Mega Bloks Build'n Style Kiosk

Say Cheese!

To find our more about Mega Bloks Barbie check out their website here.  Enjoy my video below.

Safe in His Arms - Review & Blog Tour

I have been reading a lot lately.  If you follow my blog then you know that my reading can be very eclectic.  I want to introduce you to Safe in His Arms by Colleen Coble.  It is actually Book 2 in the Under Texas Stars series but don't let that stop you from reading it if you haven't read Book 1.  Coble draws you into the story just the same!

Coble has a way with romance, mystery and amazing character development.  And while there is some predictability in certain situations, there are just as many surprises and suspense scenes as well.

I found the main character of Margaret O'Brien to be a bit of fresh air.  She is extremely competent and can run the ranch; yet, she doesn't have it completely all together.  There is something very real about Margaret that most women can identify with, her sense of insecurity.

I have grown to really love historical fiction and the fact that this book is set in Texas is a definite plus in my book (I was born and raised in The Lone Star State).  I found it fascinating to learn about ranch work in the late 1800s.  If you like historical fiction and romance novels I would strongly recommend this book.  It is a clean, entertaining read and well worth the time!

Keep reading to hear more about this book and author.

About Safe in His Arms
Sometimes it takes a stranger to see you as you really are.
Under Texas Stars, Book 2
Born and raised on sprawling Texas land, Margaret O'Brien prides herself on her competence as a rancher. But her father believes she's made for more than just dawn-to-dusk work. He wants her to have the love of a good man, to raise children, to build a life. But Margaret gave up such dreams years ago. She's convinced no man would have her, that the ranch is her life now.  So when Margaret's father hires Daniel Cutler as a new foreman, she's frustrated and suspicious. Then an overheard conversation links him with a gang of bank robbers, and she's downright worried. Daniel swears he's not involved, but Margaret's not convinced. She knows the man still has secrets. But would a criminal be so kind and talk so convincingly of his faith? As a series of tragic "accidents" threatens all she holds dear, Margaret must decide what to trust: her own ears, her best judgment . . . or what her heart keeps telling her.
