Super Teacher Worksheets Review (Printable Worksheets)

Disclosure:  I received this complimentary product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW.

Super Teacher Worksheets

A few year ago we received a Full 1-year online membership with unlimited downloads/access to Super Teacher Worksheets to use in our homeschool (see previous review here).  I'm super excited to share that we were given the opportunity to use and review this resource again this year!
My dashboard

Let me refresh you, what is Super Teacher Worksheets?  It's a website with now over 20,000 printable teaching resources geared for students in K-5th grade in numerous subjects and topics including math, reading, writing, phonics, spelling, science, social studies and more!  There are fun holiday and seasonal activities, games, and mini-books as well.

Above you can see my search results for poems.

This site is super user friendly.  Content is conveniently organized by various subjects but there is also a search bar if you are looking for something specific.  While these resources are not intended to represent a full curriculum, they are perfect to supplement any curriculum you are using.

After my poem search, I had to check out The Pizza Beast!  I knew the boys would enjoy it.  The boys read the poem and then answered the fun comprehension questions that went along with it.  And while I didn't exactly need it, I love that it came with an answer key.

F with his finished Pizza Beast worksheet.

G has been enjoying working through some money basic worksheets: value, counting, etc.

Complete!

A super cool feature on Super Teacher Worksheets is the ability to create your own worksheets, word searches, etc. using the generator tools.  I plan on utilizing this in our homeschool this year to create word searches with science vocabulary and spelling words from our curriculum.  I'm super excited to have this resource available to us and I'm looking forward to diving into many of the worksheets available!

Dr. Livingston Jr. Human Body Floor Puzzle Review

Remember our review of Dr. Livingston's Anatomy Jigsaw Puzzles - Set of 7?  Well, I have another Timberdoodle gem to share with you today, this time it's Dr. Livingston Jr. Human Body Floor Puzzle.  This puzzle contains 100 pieces, is manufactured by Genius Games and is geared for younger students, 6 and older or 1st grade and up.

A peek inside our puzzle box

This storage box is great because it easily stores all the puzzle pieces when not in use and I appreciate the Velcro feature as well.

I love the included reference sheet.

And the back of our sheet shows fun facts of the human body.

Some of the puzzle pieces

Because this set is geared for younger children, the pieces are larger and easier for smaller hands to grip.  I love that they are thick and durable.  I tried to show the thickness in the photo above to give you an idea.  I love that this puzzle shows an accurate depiction of the human body in detail with a 50% magnification.  When assembled our puzzle is 4 feet long!  Children will observe the head, chest, abdomen, limbs, muscles, bones, arteries, veins, etc.

G assembling the hand

F putting the final pieces in the abdomen

This is such a great resource to help anatomy come alive or to use with younger students as you study different aspects of the body.  It is such a great visual representation and I love that assembling the puzzle is a very hands-on way of studying and learning.  I do want to note that there are no gender related details shown in this puzzle.

Our completed puzzle!

Above you can see G next to our puzzle, they are about the same size!

And one with both the younger boys :)

The Dr. Livingston Jr. Human Body Floor Puzzle is currently included in Timberdoodle's 1st grade curriculum kit and we definitely recommend it!

Disclosure:  Huge shout out to Timberdoodle for selecting me as a Timberdoodle Blogger.  I received Dr. Livingston Jr. Human Body Floor Puzzle in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions are my own.

One More Story Review

Disclosure:  I received this complimentary product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW.

One More Story

We were blessed to receive a one-year subscription to One More Story for our homeschool!  This online book library can be accessed from any country in the world on both computers and mobile devices using any web browser but Chrome and Safari are optimal (you will need Internet access).

Getting ready to read Owl Babies

G has been using One More Story the most in our family and he prefers to use it on our iPad.  He loves looking at books and listening to read alouds so this is perfect for him as he can choose his own stories!

Our One More Story Library

There are currently 87 pictures books to choose from arranged on different colored shelves - red, blue, orange, green and yellow.

You can scroll down to get to the other bookcases or you can use the coordinating colored tabs on the left.

Bendy

G uses One More Story the most on our iPad as I mentioned above.  After a quick lesson with me and listening to Benjamin D. Bookworm (Bendy) explain the site, G hasn't had any trouble and it's been easy for him to navigate the books on his own.  Bendy is there in the upper left hand corner if G needs reminding.

An original song is included with each book.  These songs are composed by Robby Merkin (previous music director for Sesame Street) and are delightful.

G reading Mouse Paint

Reading Sidney Can't Swim

 Story options

Children can also choose to read the book themselves in the I Can Read mode.  They won't get the narration and music in this mode but it's nice to have this option too!  Another cool feature is the vocabulary button.

The vocabulary for The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

You can select a word and it will tell you the definition and read you a sentence from the book with the word.

words are highlighted as they are read aloud

I appreciate that this has the audio and visual components.  Children can listen to the book right along with the images in the Read Along mode.  I love how the words are highlighted in red as they are being read aloud.  G loves following along.

I also value the plethora of narrators included!  And they have talent!  If you have ever listened to an audiobook, a narrator can really make or break a story.  One More Story has been so great for G, he basically has his own personal online library.  If you have a young child or emerging reader we highly recommend One More Story!

My Teaching Library's Download Club Review

{Disclaimer:  I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review.  I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way.  This post contains affiliate links.}

If you are currently homeschooling, you may know first hand how valuable educational resources can be.  We were blessed to receive one year of access to My Teaching Library's Download Club, which gives us unlimited downloads and access to all of their resources.

My Teaching Library has resources available for PreK through 12th grade in a variety of subjects (Art, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Electives, Character Education, etc.).  Since I have seven kids aged 4-16 across 7 grades this is a huge benefit to our homeschool!

I like that you can search for resources by grade, subject or miscellaneous.

Motor Skills Activities

In the 0-PreK Motor Skills section there are numerous resources for tracing, coloring, handwriting, and cutting skills.  I printed out several cutting skills activity sheets for F and G to complete.  These were great practice for them.

F cut shapes while G cut out lines.

Using a Microscope Lab

B is taking Biology this year and we will be doing a lot of labs together throughout the year, many involving our microscope.  My Teaching Library has a fun lab on using a compound microscope that I printed out for her to complete.  This was a great way for her to familiarize herself with our microscope and how to use it.

The younger kids had fun completing a worksheet about their senses after taking a walk.  They recorded what they heard, smelled, saw and touched.

E's completed walk with your senses worksheet.

This is just a small sampling of the resources and activities you will find on My Teaching Library.  I am having a lot of fun with my membership and I look forward to utilizing it even more throughout this school year.  If you are looking for homeschool resources and worksheets this would be a great option.

With My Teaching Library, you can purchase products individually or get unlimited downloads/resources with their Download Club (this is what we have).  There is also an annual membership and a lifetime one as well.  Be sure to click on the banner below to visit the Homeschool Review Crew blog to read even more reviews of My Teaching Library and see more of what they have to offer.

U.S. Elections Lap-Pak from Home School in the Woods Review

{Disclaimer:  I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review.  I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way.}

Home School in the Woods is chock-full of amazing, family-friendly, flexible resources that integrate well into a plethora of school plans.  You may remember our previous review of their Composers Activity-Pak, which we loved.  We were blessed to receive their digital U.S. Elections Lap-Pak, recommended for 3-8th grade, for review.  Our family loves hands-on activities and lapbooks so this was a perfect resource to use when learning about the U.S. elections process and how a U.S. president is chosen.

Introduction to our U.S. Elections Lap-Pak

Included in our lap-pak is 21 lap booking projects or activities:

  • Definition of "Election"
  • Different Forms of Government
  • The American Experiment
  • The Three Branches of Government
  • Suffrage
  • Who Do We Vote For?
  • Terms of Office
  • A "Handful" of Political Parties
  • Caucuses And Primaries
  • National Conventions
  • The Presidential Campaign:  Platform
  • The Presidential Campaign:  Stump Speaking
  • The Presidential Campaign:  Media - News Source
  • The Presidential Campaign:  Campaign Advertising - Spreading the Word!
  • Raising Money

  • The Electoral College
  • Inauguration Day
  • The Electoral Race!
  • The "Vocabinet"

Here is the printable for The American Experiment project.

Above you can see the project directions.

And here is A with our completed activity!

Finishing The Three Branches of Government Project

I absolutely love the step-by-step illustrated directions for assembling every project, the text booklet as well as the entire lap book itself.  This eliminates any confusion that one may have using this resource.

Here is a sampling of the Lab Book Assembly Instructions.  I love the color illustrations.

We set up our lap book a bit different, using different colors in different areas (but remember, you have flexibility).  Above you can see, we started assembling our lapbook.

Another view of our lapbook

One of my personal favorites was this glitter wheel.  It makes it look like confetti is falling on the candidate's family.

The projects incorporate creative writing (if you choose), coloring, drawing, research and more.  It's a great springboard for learning all about the U.S. Elections process.  The reading text comes in several formats.  It can be printed and placed in a binder or it can be printed in a smaller booklet to keep with your lap book.  In addition to the text is an audio option.  You can read along with the narrator or work on your projects while listening.  We found this option to be amazing.  I love the flexibility and customization of this lap-pak so you can really use this resource how it fits your needs the best.

I also really appreciate that this digital resource is geared towards multiple students and reproducible within a family - so great for our large crew here!  We chose to make a "family" U.S. Elections lapbook.  Some of the kids are learning about the election process for the first time while others are brushing up on the ins and outs and learning new things.  This is such a fun resource and I highly recommend Home School in the Woods for quality resources!

Home School in the Woods  U.S. Elections Lap-Pak is a great resource to introduce your student to the U.S. presidential elections process with hands-on activities, perfect timing for this presidential election year!  Home School in the Woods has a great post on how to use this specific lapbook and what it contains as well, check it out here.  I also really appreciate this post on Why Teach With Lapbooks?  We are not completely done with our U.S. Elections Lap-Pak but we are close.  We should finish it this month!
