With Easter fast approaching, we have been enjoying reading The Easter Storybook from David C Cook. It is geared for children ages 4-8 but I think an even broader age range would appreciate it.
Our new book
This book contains 40 Bible stories so it is perfect to read one a day during Lent but it doesn't have to be read that way. You can enjoy it at a faster or slower pace if you desire and it has great value even when Easter has passed.

Each story has a two page layout, one page for the stories (written by
Laura Richie) and one page for a full-color illustration (illustrated by
Ian Dale). Each story begins with a Bible passage and ends with a
conversational question or two to help families discuss and think about Jesus together. Just a few examples of questions include: Who was the Messiah? What does it mean to repent? Have you ever felt afraid? What does it mean to be free? What would you like to pray about now? I appreciate that the questions dig deeper into the story and help open more conversations with the kids.
The first story begins with Jesus as a boy in the temple (Luke 2) and the last story shows us His ascension into heaven. I appreciate that we see much of the life of Jesus and that we get to see a picture of God's love over and over again.

I'm not going to show you the entire book but I hope the pictures above gives you a peek inside into the feel for this book. Laura Richie does a fabulous job summarizing these rich accounts of the life of Jesus and Ian Dale's full-color illustrations pair with them wonderfully.
I love that through this book, families get a glimpse into who Jesus is (a son, a teacher, a good shepherd, a healer, a Savior, a King, etc.) and what He did. It also shows us why His death and resurrection matter. This is a wonderful book to read during the Easter season and beyond and I highly recommend it.
