I have a fun Bible to share with you today, The Action Bible: Faith In Action Edition, which is an enhanced version of the bestselling Expanded Edition.  The Action Bible has helped millions of kids engage in God's Word through short, impactful stories and amazing, vivid illustrations.  The Faith In Action Edition is probably the most complete interactive Bible for both kids and teens.

The Easter Storybook from David C Cook Review

With Easter fast approaching, we have been enjoying reading The Easter Storybook from David C Cook.  It is geared for children ages 4-8 but I think an even broader age range would appreciate it.

Our new book

This book contains 40 Bible stories so it is perfect to read one a day during Lent but it doesn't have to be read that way.  You can enjoy it at a faster or slower pace if you desire and it has great value even when Easter has passed.

Each story has a two page layout, one page for the stories (written by Laura Richie) and one page for a full-color illustration (illustrated by Ian Dale).  Each story begins with a Bible passage and ends with a conversational question or two to help families discuss and think about Jesus together.  Just a few examples of questions include:  Who was the Messiah?  What does it mean to repent?  Have you ever felt afraid?  What does it mean to be free?  What would you like to pray about now?  I appreciate that the questions dig deeper into the story and help open more conversations with the kids.

The first story begins with Jesus as a boy in the temple (Luke 2) and the last story shows us His ascension into heaven.  I appreciate that we see much of the life of Jesus and that we get to see a picture of God's love over and over again.

I'm not going to show you the entire book but I hope the pictures above gives you a peek inside into the feel for this book.  Laura Richie does a fabulous job summarizing these rich accounts of the life of Jesus and Ian Dale's full-color illustrations pair with them wonderfully.

I love that through this book, families get a glimpse into who Jesus is (a son, a teacher, a good shepherd, a healer, a Savior, a King, etc.) and what He did.  It also shows us why His death and resurrection matter.  This is a wonderful book to read during the Easter season and beyond and I highly recommend it.  We recently reviewed The Action Bible Anytime Devotions from David D Cook if you want to check that out as well.

Our Devotional

The Action Bible Anytime Devotions from David C Cook is a great devotional for your preteen.  I was excited to review this and have it available for A, B and C.  We already own The Action Bible and I thought this would be a great addition.

This devotional invites kids ages 8-12 to dig deeper into God's Word and helps them apply Bible truth to their real life struggles.  It's made to be used anytime, anywhere, and as much as they want.  Topics covered included courage, faith, hope, kindness, love, service, strength, and trust.

A peek inside a devotional on trust.

There are 90 devotionals in total.  Each devotional is relatively short, two pages.  They can be done daily or you can schedule them out best to your needs.  Although, the thing to remember is it can be used anytime!  Each devotional has an action verse or applicable Bible verse (NIV translation) at the beginning.  It then shares a relatable story and connects it back to the Bible.  There is a prayer or talk to God section.  It ends with a take it further section, showing you what Bible verses you can read to grasp more.  These devotions help strengthen faith in God and help build character.

We already own The Action Bible so it's super easy to add in the "take it further" suggestions.

B Reading a devotional

Just like in The Action Bible, these original illustrations are vivid and engaging.  Kids really relate to  this comic book style devotional.  I'm thrilled to have this for my kids to help build their faith and encourage deep discussions.  We definitely recommend it.

While preteens can read this devotional and use it on their own, I also want to note that this can also be used as a family devotional as well.
