The Case For Heaven Film Review

I have an upcoming film to share with you, THE CASE FOR HEAVEN, which is based on the new book by best-selling author Lee Strobel.  This film will be exclusively on Pure Flix beginning today, July 15th!

I was blessed with a prescreening of this film and I thought it was fascinating.  I loved that it included interviews with John Burke, Francis Chan, the late Luis Palau and even a few skeptics as well.  This documentary film is compelling and thought-provoking.  Birthed from Strobel's own brush with death, THE CASE FOR HEAVEN encourages you to investigate heaven, hell and the afterlife.  What lies beyond death?  I really enjoyed this film and I highly recommend it.

Be sure to watch THE CASE FOR HEAVEN on Pure Flix today!  Go here to start your Pure Flix subscription or free trial today, you won't regret it.

Just A Little Something I Made

BUCK, FIRST BANK ACCOUNT from Buck Adademy Review

Disclosure:  I received this complimentary product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW.

Buck Academy

We were blessed to receive BUCK, FIRST BANK ACCOUNT from Buck Academy for review.  You may remember our previous review of BUCK Making Cents.

Our softcover book

Our book is 25 pages and includes a bank account comparison and assessment, glossary, and a page about the author, Dustin Goss, and illustrator, Febyolla Goss.  This husband and wife duo teamed up to help parents educate children on personal finance with Buck Academy and it's great!

The purpose of this book specifically is to guide and teach youth (young children, tweens and teens alike) about setting up their first bank account.  It helps them think about the type of account they may need, a savings account vs a checking account and the details involved in setting one up.  It's also helpful for parents in how to go about helping your child set up an account and what documents will be needed to do so.

BUCK, the friendly dollar bill, will help youth understand if they are a spender or a saver.  I really like that it encourages kids to give, spend and save and it tells them that the percentages of how they do that will most likely change as they get older and that your youth is a fantastic time to really begin to save!

Other topics within our book include choosing a bank, the difference between a checking and savings account, what is a debit card and the risks involved with using one, etc.

Money awareness and understanding will definitely help children on their way to financial independence!  This is another winner from Buck Academy and we definitely recommend it.

Happy 4th!

Stevie Dawg loved the holiday!

We had a great 4th!  We went to a local parade and like last year, the floats and candy haul did not disappoint.  We even took Stevie Dawg with us this time.  Afterwards we enjoyed fireworks with some good friends.

The turtle float!

The elephant float

And my favorite, the T-Rex!

Hope you had a great holiday!

Islands and Enemies from Tyndale Book Review

Disclosure:  I received this complimentary product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW.

Adventures in Odyssey

We were blessed to receive Islands and Enemies from Tyndale for review.  This is Book #28 in The Imagination Station series from Adventures in Odyssey.

Our hardback book

Our book is ~ 150 pages with 17 chapters.  It is recommended for ages 7 and up and is on a Grade Level of 2.7 difficulty.  It makes for a fabulous read aloud as well!

E devoured this book in one sitting!  She loved the story and adventure.

I'm currently reading it aloud to the younger boys and they are really enjoying it!  I really like that when we are finished, they can go back and read it on their own.

There are various black and white illustrations sprinkled throughout the story and the kids really enjoy them.

What's this story about?  Cousins Patrick and Beth step into the Imagination Station and we all know what happens with that!  They journey back in time to 1521 and board the Victoria on its journey to sail around the world.  The youngsters meet Captain Ferdinand Magellan.  Things go awry when they are accused of being witches and they find themselves having to prove their innocence.  I always love the historical elements as I really enjoy historical fiction works.
