Gigi & Nate Movie Review

I have an adorable film to share with you, 'Gigi & Nate!'  This film is set to release in theaters tomorrow, Friday, September 2, 2022.   I was blessed to receive a prescreener of this film.

Synopsis:  Nate Gibson's life is turned upside down after he suffers a near-fatal illness and is left a quadriplegic.  Moving forwards seems impossible until he meets his unlikely service animal, Gigi - a curious and intelligent capuchin monkey - who helps Nate finds what he needs most: hope.

Details:  This film is written by David Hudgins and directed by Nick Hamm.  It stars Marcia Gay Harden, Charlie Rowe, Josephine Langford, Hannah Riley, Zoe Colletti, Jim Belushi and Diane Ladd.  This film is rated PG-13 and is 114 minutes in length.

My Thoughts: David and I watched this film together and I really enjoyed it.  I love how this film emphasizes the bond between animals and humans, specifically Gigi & Nate.  After Nate becomes a quadriplegic, Nate's mother looks for him a therapy animal when he seems to have no hope.  While everything was far from perfect, Gigi & Nate learn to trust each other over time and Gigi begins to really help Nate with some of his essential therapy as well as emotional support.  It’s truly amazing how much an animal can impact a life as shown by GiGi and Nate!  Even when this duo is threatened, they find a way to stay together.

Want to know more?  Enjoy the official movie trailer below.

Be sure to engage with Gigi & Nate on social media below.

REDEEMING LOVE Movie Review

I recently shared with you that REDEEMING LOVE is coming to theaters January 21, 2022.  It's a story of the power of unconditional love based on the bestselling novel by Francine Rivers, which is inspired by the Biblical Book of Hosea with its central theme of God's redeeming love, even towards sinners.

Movie Synopsis:  Angel expects only pain from those around her.  Sold into prostitution as a child, Angel survives with hatred towards herself and the men that use her.  She meets Michael Hosea, a farmer who believes God wants Angel to be his wife.  Dire circumstances force Angel to accept his proposal, but when Michael defies her bitter expectations, her wounded heart begins to mend.  As Angel encounters a love unlike anything she has ever experienced, feelings of unworthiness and shame cause her to run from a life she doesn't think she deserves.  As Michael sets out to find her, Angel discovers there is no brokenness that love can't heal.

My Thoughts:  I was blessed with a prescreening of this movie and it did not disappoint.  I must admit though, this is a hard movie to watch on the screen.  There is so much pain and so much darkness (sex, alcohol, prostitution, child abuse, greed, selfishness, etc.), and yet, it is beautifully redeeming.  Michael's persistent love for Angel reminds us of God's pursuit for our hearts.  For book fans, this movie is extremely accurate and I really appreciate that.  This movie reminds me of the movie PRICELESS, not afraid to tackle tough topics.  Angel is rescued over and over and eventually has to decide for herself which path she is going to walk.  I love this - with God it's not a one and done thing.  He invites us to have a relationship with him, and as most of us know, relationships are not a one-way street.  He is constantly pursuing us, we just need to open our eyes.  Planning on seeing this movie yourself?  Buy your tickets for REDEEMING LOVE here.  And be sure to check out the movie trailer below.

Disclosure:  Many thanks to Universal for providing me a prescreening of this movie for review.  Opinions are 100% my own and NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

Finding You Trailer Debut & World Market Giveaway

I have a new movie trailer to share with you today, this time a romantic comedy from Roadside Pictures, Finding You!

This inspirational drama full of heart and humor follows violinist, Finley Sinclair, to an Irish coastal village as she begins her semester studying abroad.  At the B&B run by her host family, she encounters a heartthrob movie star, Beckett Rush, who it there to film another installment of his fantasy-adventure series.  This movie is about passion, life, and love.

Thinking about this film, I am reminded of the best adventure I have ever taken, my own journey to Ireland with David on our honeymoon.  The landscape was lush and green, and the people were as genuine as can be.  We drove around the country with no particular agenda and it was so much fun.  I kissed the Blarney Stone, we looked over the Cliffs of Moher, I watched Waterford Crystal being made, and we toured too many castles to recall.  This movie makes me want to go back again!

Welcome to Ireland, a land of beauty, fantasy and romance worth risking it all for. 💕  Watch #FindingYouMovie trailer below now, and see it in theaters May 14.

The Way Back Trailer & Giveaway

I wanted to share with you about the upcoming Warner Bros. film, The Way Back, starring Ben Affleck.  This films is inspirational as well as real and raw as it portrays that hope can be found in second chances.  Jack Cunningham (Ben Affleck's character) is struggling with addiction when he is offered a coaching position at his former high school.  He agrees to take the position and ends up finding a sliver of hope for the future and a second chance.  I do want to note that this film is rated R for language as it depicts life as it is, not where we want it to be.  The Way Back releases in theaters nationwide March 6th.

Family Dream Adventures & SMALLFOOT's Upcoming Release

SMALLFOOT releases in theaters September 28th

SMALLFOOT is an adventure for all ages, with original music and an all-star cast (Channing Tatum, Zendaya, LeBron James, Gina Rodriquez, and Danny DeVito)!  SMALLFOOT turns the Bigfoot legend upside down when a bright young Yeti finds something he thought didn't exist - a human.  News of this "smallfoot" throws a simple Yeti community into an uproar over what else might be out there in the big world beyond their snowy village, in an all new story about friendship, courage and the joy of discovery.

One of our amazing views

This film makes me think of discovery and exploration.  It was about this time last year that we went on a pretty epic family vacation.  We attended a beautiful family wedding in California (D and E were flower girls and F was the ring bearer).  Neither David nor I or any of our children had been to California so it was an extra special trip.  We also threw in a side trip to Disneyland!  On the way home we were able to visit the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and the Petrified Forest just to name a few of our stopping spots.

One of the many castles we saw on our honeymoon in Ireland.

When David and I were married we were able to take a pretty amazing honeymoon that included a trip to Ireland.  I had always wanted to go there.  Someday I really hope to take all our kids there.  The land is amazingly beautiful and visiting the castles feels like stepping back in time.  I want my kids to experience this!

Check out the trailer for SMALLFOOT below and let me know what you think.

Dog Days Movie Release

Stevie

Do you have a dog?  We adopted our dog, Stevie, 4 years ago.  He is a 50#, Shepherd mix and he loves food!  He is great with kids and people but he is terrible around "people food."  Despite the challenge of keeping our groceries away from him, I love his zeal for life and the happiness he brings our family.  He is an amazing dog and loves being a part of anything and everything we are doing.  I love that Stevie helps teach my kids how to treat animals with kindness and compassion.

A, B, D, E, and F with Stevie

I wanted to share with you a bit about the upcoming movie Dog Days, which releases in theaters in just a few days, August 8th.  Dog Days is a hilarious and heartfelt ensemble comedy that follows the lives of multiple dog owners and their beloved fluffy pals.  When these human and canine's paths start to intertwine, their lives begin changing in ways they never expected.  This is a sweet film about the joy our furry friends bring into our lives and what they can teach us about treating people with kindness and compassion.  I look forward to seeing it!

Check out the trailer for Dog Days below.

Going the Distance & Creed II Movie Trailer

Creed II releases in theaters November 21st

Was there ever a time you struggled to "go the distance" - whether in a sport, school subject, or just overcoming a difficult challenge/time in life?  This November, Rocky and Creed, who on screen inspired us all to "go the distance," and fight for our dreams returns to the big screen to face their biggest challenge yet - both on and off the ring.

For me, I am inspired to "go the distance" with my children and in my parenting.  It is such a journey and I am so far from figuring it out but I see the worth in it.  I want to help shape, nurture and grow my children into amazing human beings.  There are times I want to check-out, I feel like I don't have what it takes but those are the times to press in.  Next time I see my children in a squabble or find myself in the throws of a parenting challenge I am going to hum the Rocky theme song and see if it helps me get my perspective back, just a thought.

Check out the trailer for Creed II below and let me know what you think.

Patience Is A Virtue And The Miracle Season Trailer

I wanted to share The Miracle Season trailer with you today.  The Miracle Season releases in theaters April 6th and I'm excited to see it, just a few more days!

The movie is about tragic loss but also how we can find hope and light is some of the darkest seasons we face in life.  When C first started baseball, he was taught the basics.  On his first few teams they didn't count runs, they didn't count outs, everyone got to hit and run the bases.  This was great for learning the game but then C wanted to play "real" baseball.  So we switched leagues.  He was on a team that didn't win a single game.  And C learned how to lose gracefully and cheerfully.  It was character building in a great way.  Although that was a tough season C was patient and stuck with the game he loves.  He has been on several teams now, always diligent to show up for practices and games and hoping to play well.  And he has had some amazing coaches along the way.  C is now on the best team he has ever been on.  The other night he hit a double at his at bat and I couldn't be more proud of him.  It's not the winning or losing that matters the most.  It's how you play the game and more importantly how you treat others while doing so.  I'm grateful for all that baseball is teaching my son.

As promised, check out the trailer for The Miracle Season below.

A Wrinkle In Time Releases in Theaters Today, March 9th

If you haven't heard, A Wrinkle In Time arrives in theaters today, March 9th!  This was one of my absolute favorite books growing up so I am excited to see how the movie compares.  I'm a little nervous to see what adaptations are made but hopefully the heart of this book (and series) is conveyed.  I remember being blown away by the concept of a tesseract so it will be fun to see how it is portrayed on the big screen.

Synopsis of Wrinkle In Time:  From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney's "A Wrinkle In Time," an epic adventure based on Madeleine L'Engle's timeless classic that takes and audience across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light, good versus evil, and ultimately, the triumph of love.  The film stars Reese Witherspoon, Oprah, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine, and Storm Reid as "Meg Murry."

Check out the trailer below.

Forever My Girl Movie Trailer

Have you heard of Forever My Girl?  It's a film about second chances and finding your way back home.  It's a romance film and perfect for those who believe in courtship and love enduring all things.  The amazing music soundtrack included CMA New Artist of the Year nominee Lauren Alaina, Travis Tritt, and Alex Roe who stars in the film as country star "Liam Page."  In Forever My Girl music super-star Liam Page leaves his bride, Josie, at the altar choosing fame and fortune instead.  However, Liam never got over Josie nor did he forget his Southern roots and the small community where he was from.  When he unexpectedly returns home after tragedy, Liam is faced with the consequences of all that he left behind.  This uplifting film about second chances releases in theaters on January 19th, 2018.

In the age of social media and dating apps, courtship can seem so different from what I think of and imagine.  David and I had more of a traditional courtship during our relationship.  Believe it or not, we didn't rely on cell phones to text or communicate.  Now don't get me wrong, cell phones and social platforms can be a tool to use but they are not as powerful as good old face to face communication.  Make sure to spend time with your loved ones and put away the phones.

Check out the trailer below and let me know what you think.
